A People Person

Ah, weekends at Millersville. Never in my life did I ever think a place could be so boring! Sometimes I think that staying here is a fate worse than death! Hell, if there weren't any classes to keep my mind busy, I'd think I was in prison! All too often wake up to find that 90% of the campus is already closed down. What's a young lad to do? The only thing they seem to have running is a bus to get you the hell out of there...of course that only runs for about 4 hours on the weekend, so you can't get away for long unless you want to be stranded!

But every once in awhile, a curious thing happens; I have fun! It's truly once in a blue moon that I have a weekend that's memorable, but this weekend turned to be one such time! So what can make a weekend so enjoyable here in Amish country? Well the answer to that is simple...friends!
Hah! Oh yes...contrary to popular belief, I do have friends!

I suppose I'll start my story with yesterday afternoon. I was making my daily pot of coffee, which got me thinking. Why do people drink coffee? Why would anyone repeatedly drink something that you need to put cream and sugar in to make it taste good? Who was the first guy to grind up coffee beans, mix it with water and say, "Ugghhh...this tastes like shit! I think I'm gonna sell it!"
Dole bless whoever it was, because I can't live without it, but it just got me wondering! Shortly into my contemplation, my good pal RC came over from across the hall. We started talking about geeky stuff when the creepy guy with a beard who lives down the hall named Will came over!

Now it was originally believed that Will was some sort of psycho murder...and while that theory is not ruled out altogether, I've at least been able to determine that he is awesome, and it would be an honor to die by his hands!

So every once in awhile, Will comes down to my room and invites me to play some crazy card game...and yesterday was no different! Last time we played "Friedays: Restaurant of the Damned" where we had to make combo meals out of the cards to feed ravenous waves of zombies. Yea, you don't need to say it. It was pretty sweet! But this time he had another treat for me to play. "Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magical Carrot".
I accepted without any hesitation!

And thus, the three of us went to the rec-room where Will took out the most recent 9 expansions to "Killer Bunnies" and told us how to play. Needless to say, I was completely lost. The game went on for a little longer than I had ever expected a game of Killer Bunnies could ever last...and we ended up playing for about 4 hours! I've never been so confused in my life. The worst part was, the entire fate of the game was determined by a card that was randomly assigned to one of the players at the beginning of the game. So really there's no point to it at all, seeing as whoever got the card in the first 5 seconds wins. Figures.

After Killer Bunnies, Will gathered his cards and sprinted back to his room as he normally does. I don't know if I've ever seen him walk somewhere. My one friend who I met last semester, but didn't come back this semester came for a visit since he lives like 3 minutes away...so that was awesome! It should be stated that this kid is my hero and mentor! If I was slightly more tech-savvy, more of an insomniac, and said whatever was on my mind whether it was offensive or not...then I'm pretty sure we'd be the exact same person!

We all went to go see the movie Jumper. It was uh....a waste of time! The movie was completely plotless. I guess since Samuel L. Jackson was in it, they figured the story didn't matter. I can just see the directors sitting in their office talking about this movie:

"What should we make a movie about?"
"How about people who can teleport?!"
"Yea! So who will the bad guy be?"
"Some guy who doesn't like teleporters!"
"Yea! Who should we cast?!"
"Samuel L. Jackson and that kid who played Annakin Skywalker!"

Ya know...there are some actors that won't ever be able to make another movie without being remembered from their most famous movie! Annakin Skywalker is a perfect example! I'll never see him as anyone other than Annakin! Another example...all the hobbits from Lord of the Rings! Elijah Wood will always be Frodo! Ian Holm....Bilbo!

So we headed back to the dorm after that, and did nothing till 4 in the morning. Today wasn't that interesting, so I just told you all about yesterday! Today I woke up and had coffee with my family...over speaker phone! It certainly was entertaining, and as expected the majority of the conversation revolved around the dogs. But that's exactly what I expect when I go home...I'll have to have Sunday mornings with the fam more often!

Breakfast: Slept through it. Curses! Luckily for me, the dining hall(singular) serves breakfast like...all day. So I guess I made up for it

Lunch: Lunch was interesting! At least...in an uninteresting sense! And if you can make sense of that, then high five! I went there alone because nobody likes me, but ended up running into all sorts of folks! I got myself some crazy pizza they had and a salad and went to sit down, when I ran into the bible-buddies. We talked for awhile, before they went on their way. But once they left, the guy from across the hall showed up and I ate with him! He had to go though and I felt like staying, so I did. I went and got a bowl of cereal when I ran into none other than Kevin! I didn't sit and eat with him, but I did throw a handful of honey packets at him. I sat down and ran into the former president of the fencing club and the current president of the fencing club! I sat down with them and ate for a little while before they ran off! Then, as if it couldn't get any more exciting, I ran into the strange guy who's always wearing a beret and reading a book. He must have been as intrigued with me as I was with him, because for the past month or so we've been slowly becoming friends, and today he joined me for the end of my 2-3 hour lunch.

Dinner: Nothing too exciting. I ran into a few more people I knew, and thus felt popular again...but nothing compared to the amount of people in the lunch crowd! I got pasta with Italian sauce again. I know I seem to be getting that a lot, but hey...if they put it there, I'll eat it!
