The title has no relation to my blog per say, I just happen to be listening to Nine Inch Nails right now and that was the track that came on as I started typing my entry. Today started early this morning when I woke up around seven or eight (and I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo homes, smell you later!) to my surprise. I've actually been doing pretty well and haven't been sleeping in, which makes me feel less like I'm wasting the day. I rolled out of bed and stepped out into the cold living room. My dearest mother must have left the air on after she left. Usually she opens the windows and I am greeted by the sounds of chirping birds and a gentle breeze, but not today.
I figured no one would be awake this early so I passed the time by reading Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. That was the first book on a long list of mine I made recently that I wanted to read. It included many of the so-called literary classics and I got a jump on it. The book is interesting to say the least, but it starts out sort of slow.
I finished my summer math course at bucks a few days ago and now I don't really have anything to do during the day. The job hunt continues but still no luck. I'm hoping that once people leave for school I start to get some calls. If I don't I'll just re-apply to some places and seek out some more.
Around noon I talked to Mer for a little bit while she was on her break. Then I had lunch.
Lunch: My sister made an entire box of bagel bites and ate 3 of them. She told me I had to eat the remaining 15, and I did. Like a champion.
After lunch I called my mother to see what she was up to, and she told me my financial aid had finally gone through for bucks and I was taken care of. Good News indeed. I'm ready for the new school year. New faces, new places, hopefully an enjoyable experience.
It was around three that I decided I needed a haircut. My hair starting to get long again, so I headed over to Holiday Hair in the Flowers Mill shopping center. The lady who cut my hair was named Sharon and she was very nice. I never had her before, but managed to get me to talk. Usually I'm not very outgoing to the people who cut my hair.
I returned home and took a shower to get all the loose hair off of me. I hate that. But once I was all clean I got a call from Mer, who bless her heart, had gone from her one job cleaning Oliver Heckman from 7 to 3 over to Hallmark for a four hour shift, 4 to 8. I went over to visit her and got there around 5, I stayed until about six thirty. On my way to visit her I picked her up some coffee, because I'm a nice person. She was very grateful and told me it was delicious.
I returned home and had dinner with my Madre.
Dinner: Half of a cheesesteak. It was old and cold. Not very satisfying.
A little after 8, Mer called me back and said she was home, so I headed over to her house where a whole new adventure began. After examining some possibly hair styles she could get when she goes to get her hair cut tomorrow morning, we decided that we wanted Ice cream and travelled to Dairy Delite with her brother Brad and Timmi Bearss.
Dairy Delite: I got orange sherbert with rainbow gimmis. Always a treat. Mer decided on Butter Pecan. She let me try some, it wasn't half bad.
We left a few minutes later and decided we wanted to go to newtown, so the gang headed over and we payed a visit to another beloved food blogger, Sir Ian! He was busy working and we all ordered something from him and all of our orders were made to perfection.
Shortly after we arrived, Tyler Malovetz made a special guest appearance to our delight. We all hung around starbucks for awhile before heading back to Mer's house. Around 11:30 she was very tired and decided to go to bed. We said goodbye and I headed back home when I got a call from Tyler saying he and Ian were headed for the diner. I had to join, it's the law of the land. So we arrived at the diner and stayed there for roughly two hours.
BFD: Coffee and cheese fries.
We sat and chatted for some time and unexpectedly, more guests arrived. Jared and Ryan walked into the building and joined us for a short time. They left and soon after so did we. Now I'm home, safe and sound and just about ready for bed. It was quite the eventful day, and I'm glad it was my turn to blog so I could report something slightly interesting for once.
