Well today was my big "class trip". Since I am not a member of the Science Club anymore, I have to make my own trips now to places.
So, we went to Burpee Farm. Yes the Famous Burpee seed company, where the man origionally lived and started his company.
It's in Doylestown. I went with my neighbor accross the street, another plant junkie and her friend from work who is a Master Gardener!(this excited me to no end!!! A Master Gardener. By did I have questions for her!! We decided to staer a grls club and in order to be a member you must have 2 dogs, which we all do!! We are going gto Jersey when they have the Cranberry festival and flood the bogs1 Were going to a blueberry festival, and many other trips. I also plan to ty to talk them into a trip to Amsterdamn(my dream travel location)
first I had some cream of wheat in front my my computer while I checked mail, read the lack of blogg ect. coffee, Benedryl and Tylenol! head ache, allergies, farm! they go to gether.
We found the place which is actually connected by land, to Del Val college, an aggricultural school fo those of you that have no idea. it was 5 voluntary dollars for the tour for the farm AND the first 100 people got a free Hellbore plant. google it, its kind of cool looking. they are indigeounous I think. they are perennial.(Come back every year)
It was cool because I saw in their gardens so many of the plants I have in mine and I was proud of myself at how much I already knew about gardening.
The farm was huge and walking around made us starving! Luckily I had some lifesavers to hold us over. We all had 1.
We then went to the experimental gardens where they actually test out their new seeds and hybrids. Its the best kind of lab if you ask me. I was in heaven!
Off to the Pineville Tavern for some lunch. Pineville Tavern is in .... PINEVILLE! Suprise. it's historical and is said to have ghosts. Also George Washinton is said to have eaten a meal or two at this establishment. There is also a HUGE kitchen garden in the back which makes me drool everytime we go there.
We sat in the back room and I heard there was a family accross us from England or Autrailia or New Zealand. Thats all I ever hear anymore is this accent!
I ate a pattymelt which is my favorite here and I was going to have a lager but we had some serious plant shopping to do after and I felt I should keep my head clear so I had diet coke. We talked about my Halloween parties that I used to have and all the cool costumes that people wore to them and right over our heads on a shelf was a stuffed goose flying!. As we were leaving a motorcycle man came up on his bike with black chaps on and.......we all laughed about that. how he looked like he just stepped out of a playgirl magazine and drove into the parking lot right in front of us, like he was desert.
( I wrote this for the girls on this blogg. hope I didnt gross you out)
Then back up the road to Geerlings, a gardeners dream land! I spent the least amount of money of us all. I got some Lemon Thyme, another Chive plant, some rosemary, two potted pants to hang, flowers, Dead Nettle and I think that is all.
We came home after that and I sat in the chair and passed out, littereally for an hour with a pug on my lap who missed me so much!
I woke up, planted some of my plants and then off to Home Depot with the man. He needed to get some things and I needed to get some Chicken wire to make a compost area! I also got some more seeds for carrots and peppers and I forget the other. It's a compulsive things sometimes for me. they are cheap, the packaging is pretty, I have images of myself in my garden surrounded by a Potters garden type thing. Never in my mind do I see my broken dirty nails, the sweat, the sunburn, the aching back form digging, the weeding etc. And the bugs that kill my plants after I have nurtured them! And rabbits biting the head off the new seedlings. By July It's too hot to leavemy house and I abondon plants full of Eggplants fr the animals. how much can I do with an Eggplant anyway!
Did I also mention that my rain barell is hooked up and ready to go and we havent had any rain!!
So then we did a burger king run for Nick and I wanted Chocolate Chhip cookies(which they used to have ) but to no avail. I was forced to go to Wa Wa where we also had to stock up on Coffee and Cream too. Ad potatoe chips and I got these giant cookies that I hid in the cabinet for myself(Ian will search now)
I had some more cream of Wheat for dinner, did't even eat the cookies and ate some chips in bed while I read my new book about this l woman who finds out that her father kidnapped her when she was little and told her her mother was dead and changed her name and moved her from Arizona to New Hampshire where now she was just happy as a pig in shit. All while she was young enough to forget her old life.
I like this subject matter. It makes me wonder about all the stuff I did with my sons when they were little, as a stay at home Mom. They don't rememeber a thing about it! I should have just worked.(Just kidding) All those toys they HAD to HAVE, they don't even remember them now.
well Off to the Art Museum........

My mom used to have a badass vegetable garden in my backyard, until the rabbits took over and ate all her tomatoes and pumpkins and beans. She was mighty pissed and fenced in our yard with chicken wire. Sadly, she fenced the rabbits IN, rather than out which only expediated the demise of her veggie garden. Now all that remains is mint because she refuses to grow anything else.
Art museum? awesome! I went once, but I def. need to go again!
I hope the motorcycle man had a ponytail. That would definitely complete the picture.
hahah...that sounds like quite the trip. I'm sure Ray Cancilla would've loved it!
Oh, and I found your cookies when I went to get a drink. Entirely accidental, but I count it as a victory nonetheless! I will take the liberty upon myself to hide them from YOU this time. Its your move mother.
