I am listening to my newly refurbished IPOD, and I have to tell you it's pretty distracting so off it goes.
Ok much better.
So, we had the basic Thanksgiving Dinner that I usually have. This year I cooked a 20 pound turkey (Bless his soul) because my friend earned a free turkey at the food store and she was not going to use it and so I was lucky enough to be her friend and she gave it to me.
The tricky part was...... I had to pick it up and PRETEND I was her at her store and use her store bonus card. My heart was beating out of my chest the whole time as I felt like I was being bad. All went well, I passed for her, (which is great because she's much thinner than me)
Second thing that was different was that since the turkey was so big, I didn't have a pan to fit its tubby little tail feathers in. So, at 10 PM, the night before Thanksgiving, we went over to Redners(who doesn't offer free turkeys by the way.....loser store, I hate that place). And let me tell you another thing, all these people who have been preparing since Halloween for this day, guess what, they could have waited until now and avoided all the rush and bother.
Store was empty (except for a guy I'll just go ahead and call Typhoid Tommy and his woman, who we curiously ran into in every isle, despite the fact that I was doing my best to avoid him and his coughing and coughing and coughing. I am no Doctor but this man seriously needed to see one. they curiously spoke much about all the drinks they were going to have the next day.
ANYWAY.
With a giant sized pan comes a giant sized roll of aluminum foil. I have seen these items but never really had a use for them before the giant turkey.
Everything else was the same as last year and the year before. After dinner movie was Life Aquatic, which I had not revisited in a while so it was great to see again. After we went to the in laws for dessert which no one really wanted because we were so full.
Spent the weekend making things from left overs like potato pancakes with eggs for breakfast and Turkey pot pie(two days worth of meals from that turkey)
Friday we had a FABU Amatos pizza. It was heavenly and Saturday I had lunch with my turkey giving friend at my favorite greek restaurant where we had spanikopita, greek salad and wings and wine.
After that we stumbled along the canal taking swigs of the bottle and smoking cigarettes, harassing the ducks, ending the journey which began at 1:00 after dark at Starbucks, Yardley location, sitting on the tiny patio looking of the lake by the lights of several illuminated houses that were kind enough to have their decorations up already, trees and all and the lights glistened off the beautiful pond. We cursed and spit chewing tobacco and contemplated stealing bikes from the side of the store.
Much of that last paragraph was a lie......(I would never harass ducks)
hope everyone had a good holiday... i take that back you all are pathetic losers fro not blogging. Pretty soon it will be my personal blogg
