Martin Luther King Mothafucka

Well, today marks the holiday that I'm sure each and every one of us has been counting down the days for! The holiday that makes sleeping difficult weeks in advance! The holiday that makes every boy and girl eager for next year the very minute the next day comes around!

Martin Luther King day!

And among all the hopping MLK parties that were going on here at college, I sat down in my study with a cup of coffee, and pondered the true meaning of Martin Luther King day. Sure we all remember those 10 page packets(which must have been a century old) that they gave us in Elementary School, and forced us to read/fill out concept questions about Martin Luther King, year after year...but how much of that was retained by our young innocent minds, which in all fairness were already super saturated with thoughts of the Power Rangers--who, under the leadership of a giant talking head, sought to protect the world from "The Evil Rita".

Well, in any case, Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who had a dream. You may be thinking: Big deal! I have dreams every night!
(And I have to admit that I too dream quite often! In fact, for the past few days, I've been dreaming of a faceless man who is slowly stealing my possessions, and every night he takes something else.)
But MLK's dream was different! Rather than dreaming of fun stuff like the circus, he dreamt of equality between all men...which gets boring after awhile, trust me.

But rather than wasting money on a dream-catcher, he gave speeches which touched everyone around him, both black and white! He saw a world where white man and black man were considered equal! Where they could live together in harmony! He did everything he possibly could to obtain this dream...and he succeeded!
Oh, and women were largely left out of this deal...as were the Indians, the Asians, the German, the Irish, the Jews...and of course the Native Americans who were screwed over since the beginning.

But what I don't understand...is if he truly succeeded and all men are equal...then how come all the hip ganstas always be hatin when I come all up in their hizzy, wantin to get a piece of the excitement? Seriously! They always look like they're having so much fun...the way they jump around and yell everything and flail their arms and not say words correctly...I want in!
If they're gonna make me put up with all that "gangsta-hip-hop" bullshit, then they shouldn't pull guns on me when I start bustin rhymes!

Yo I'm scratchin my noggin,
to think of something to write while I'm food bloggin,
so I don't get no public floggin,
tomorrow morning I'm going joggin,
and then I'm gonna buy a toboggan,
Bitch.

Oh well, I'll never understand it. I guess the true meaning of MLK day will always be a mystery.

Breakfast: I woke up rather late this morning, but I headed to breakfast as soon as I could. Once I got there, I ran into my good pal Kevin, and we sat down at a table to enjoy our breakfast.

...oh wait. It's 1:30. Rats, guess I missed breakfast!

Lunch: So I sat down with my good pal Kevin for LUNCH! I had a grilled cheese, some curly fries, a salad and an apple. It was a good lunch, and we stayed there and discussed the meaning of life/MLK for about an hour. Since I hadn't seen him since...Saturday...it was time to catch up!

Dinner: Welp, my roommate got back earlier than I expected he would. And so, when dinner time came around he invited me to go with him and his friends. I respectfully declined knowing damn well that I'd rather eat alone! I told him I was headed out a bit later to a different dining hall. A technique that usually works...but today was different.
APPARENTLY they all changed where they were going at the last second, and I ended up running into them on the way there.
Damnit!

I told them that whoever I was going with canceled...and as a result I was forced to politely eat the worst two pieces of pizza I had ever tasted, around 6 of the stupidest people I had ever met, as they talked about the most ridiculous topics I had ever heard...for an hour and a half. You all may think I'm being harsh...but I'm sure you'd all be just as annoyed as I was were you in the same situation.

And so now I'm doing my English homework in my room while my roommate listens to his rap music in the background. I guess one of us has the true gangsta spirit required to fit in with the rest of modern day culture.

Happy Martin Luther King Day everyone!
